Robert was the sixth child born to his parents who were in a traditional marriage. He lived with both his parents until the death of his father in 2003––his mother is still alive. Robert lived with his mother until he was five years old; then went to live with his older brother for two years. He then went to live with a cousin for two years before coming to live with his sister who lives near Kasana Children’s Center. She works in our special needs class where Robert’s youngest sister has a place. She earns little so asked if Robert could have a place in our senior school. Robert was given a place in 2015. Since joining our sponsorship program, we have learned that Robert is respectful, kind, and honest. He enjoys playing soccer and reading books. In the future he would like to become an electrical engineer.

Trevor is the second child born to his parents who were living together. His father had one other wife at that time with whom he had four more children. Trevor lived with his parents and two brothers until 2007, when his father passed away. His mother remarried, but he also passed away. Now Trevor’s mother survives on peasant farming which only provides food for consumption with no income to send the children to school. She came to Kasana Children’s Center seeking assistance for her children’s education. Trevor and his brother are attending our primary school and their older brother is at our secondary school. Since joining our school, we have learned that Trevor is quiet, polite, enjoys reading novels, playing soccer, and would like to become a motor vehicle engineer.

Story
Sam was the only child born to his parents, as a result of a casual relationship. His father did not stay with his mother after Sam was born. Sam has always lived with his mother, who had several children from a previous relationship. When her relationship failed with Sam’s father, his mother took the family to live with her father, where they still live. Sam’s mother still cares for five of her children, along with her father and her paternal aunt. She earns a small living through subsistence farming, but struggles to meet all their needs so she brought Sam to New Hope Uganda for help with his schooling. Since coming to Kasana, we have learned that Sam is introverted, but can also be outgoing, depending on the situation. He is obedient and it is difficult to ever find him angry. Sam came to know the Lord in 2013 and one day would like to become a driver. He also enjoys playing soccer and reading books.
