Samuel Family 2022

Testimonials:

 Mugabe Fred

I grew up in a religious family but was very resistant to having a personal relationship with the Lord. At age 15 everyone in my family accepted Christ apart from me. A couple years later, a visiting pastor shared the gospel with me, but I did not take it seriously. Two months later I was sick in the hospital and a Christian nurse asked me if I accepted Christ into my life. This made me remember the pastor who shared with me and I invited him to lead me to Christ. From that point, my life changed; I started going to bible studies and discipleship training in our church. Later on, I completed Theological Training by Extension (TTE) and became ordained as a pastor. In 2017 I joined New Hope Uganda’s Institute for Gospel Transformation which changed my life. I became interested in parenting as an opportunity to share Christ with children and then became family father to Samuel Family.

Mugabe Mary

I was second born of four into an Anglican family, but my parents died when I was very young and so I grew up as an orphan. When I was 14, the good news of Jesus Christ reached our area. I made up my mind to accept Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior. Being an orphan, I had so many questions, but the gospel addressed them all. I began to experience new life in Christ and saw God as my Father. In 2017, I joined the Institute for Gospel Transformation with my husband Fred at New Hope Uganda. My heart was also stirred for discipleship through parenting. We have seen God bless the hearts of our children through our ministry to them in Samuel Family.

Our Family Goals

  • Raise a God-fearing family grounded in truth.
  • Raise healthy, hard-working children who are growing in their life-skills, know their value, and purpose.
  • For our income-generating projects to thrive, create a livelihood for us, and give us the ability to help others.

The History of Samuel Family

Samuel Family was founded in 1998 with Uncle Simon Katabaazi and Grace Nassaka as family parents. Uncle Mugabe Fred and Auntie Mary have taken over as family parents for Samuel Family this year.  Samuel Family has always had strong academics, with many grown sons and daughters successfully in medical, engineering, or social work careers.  Music has also been a part of the family as the first family mother, Auntie Grace composed New Hope Uganda’s anthem song and a grown daughter, Resty composed an album that won an award.

Our Home and Culture

We are a hard-working family, hospitable, open-minded, and enjoy playing games.  As our children have grown, we have developed an atmosphere where we can easily talk about issues or needs that arise.  We also enjoy worship and hearing the testimonies of God working in our older sons and daughters.

Our Family Business

Our family business is farming.  We have a coffee and banana plantation, piggery, and other food enterprises.  Our children are a part of our business by taking care of our gardens and feeding the pigs.  In the future we would like to improve our coffee and banana plantation, expand our piggery project, and add a dairy project.
