Thanksgiving Sunday: Who Am I?

“Now therefore, our God, we thank You and praise Your glorious name.
But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly as this?
For all things come from You, and of Your own we have given You.”
1 Chronicles 29:13-14 (NKJV)

The question of “Who am I?” formed the theme of this year’s Thanksgiving Sunday at Kasana Community Church. On July 10, more than 600 people gathered to praise God for His blessings over the past year!

A few members of the New Hope family shared testimonies of how God had worked in their lives over the past year. The Treasures in Jars of Clay staff praised God for Hassan, their founding member – especially that his smile has recently come back after not showing itself for several months.

Jonnes Bakimi, NHU Ministry Coordinator, expounded on the theme of the day by sharing about his own humble beginnings, illustrating how God blessed him and raised him up beyond anything he earned or deserved.

Chickens given as an offering

As usual, a special offering was taken to be used for a particular ministry. This year’s offering will help fund the planting of churches in surrounding communities.

At the conclusion of the service, a Muslim neighbor who has lived next door since before New Hope arrived also shared an encouraging testimony about how God has blessed and used the ministry since its early days.

A meal was then shared by all the attendees, followed by volleyball and football games!
