Needs
Needs/Financial Priorities in 2012
Gifts given to our general fund are always welcomed. When such a gift is given, we will use the funds in the area of greatest need at the time.
The following are the primary New Hope funding focus areas in 2012 (not necessarily in order):
1) Post-primary funding:
- Additional funds are needed to sustain our New Hope Academy, Investment Year program, and further education (vocational, A-Level, and University). We are currently trying to add co-sponsors for each student secondary age and above to meet the additional costs. If you are interested in sponsoring a secondary or older child, please contact our sponsorship department at: sponsors@newhopeuganda.org
One-time or ongoing donations to the Post-Primary Fund are also welcomed.
2) Kobwin Children’s Center Sponsorship/Other
- Our second group of former child soldiers or those otherwise affected by the Kony rebel grouup moved into our Kobwin Center in January. We also added ten more children from the local Kobwin community as day students. Things are going well but funds are very tight. We really need sponsors for these new children (20 currently do not have sponsors). In addition, we need co-sponsors for every child (50) because of the high staff to child ratio we feel is necessary for the unique needs of these children. There are many other start-up needs as well.
If you are interested in sponsoring a Kobwin child, please contact our sponsorship department at:sponsors@newhopeuganda.org

3) Musana FM Radio
- Our Musana FM radio continues to have a significant impact in our immediate community and much beyond. Finances, however, are very difficult. Advertising on the radio is able to cover some of the running costs but not all of them. We continue to feel that the radio is not just an extra but an important part of the way God is calling us to reach out to our community to not just work with the children who are orphaned but with the community that is producing them (and often not caring for them as they could). If you are interested helping the radio continue to produce programming that is challenging the cultural views in our community, we would love you to partner with us.
One-time or ongoing gifts to Musana FM Radio are most welcomed.
4) Musana Camps
- Musana Camps continues to grow and hosted over 300 campers and team members last year. As we continue to build up the camp and grow enterprise businesses to sustain the camp, your help would be greatly appreciated.
5) Staff Housing
- As we continue to grow so does our need for staff housing. One pleasant issue currently is that many of our single staff are getting married! So the single houses they were living in no longer work:) We could use a new four-plex at Kasana Children’s Centre, a duplex or four-plex at Kobwin Children’s Centre and a duplex or four-plex at Musana Camps.
6) Other needs
- Of course, there are other projects as well.
