Needs
Needs/Financial Priorities in 2011
Gifts given to our general fund are always welcomed. When such a gift is given, we will use the funds in the area of greatest need at the time.
The following are the primary New Hope funding focus areas in 2010:
1) Post-primary funding:
- Additional funds are needed to sustain our New Hope Academy, Investment Year program, and further education (vocational, A-Level, and University). We are currently trying to add second sponsors for each student secondary age and above to meet the additional costs. If you are interested in sponsoring a secondary child, please contact our sponsorship department at: sponsors@newhopeuganda.org
One-time or ongoing donations to the Post-Primary Fund are also welcomed.
2) Staff Salaries/Quality of Living - Our Ugandan Finance Committee and Board have challenged us to significantly increase the base salaries of our staff but not to do so until funds are available. We would very much like to do. Contributing to our current NHU Staff Matching Fund is one way to help with this. These funds will also go to helping repair staff housing ec. Staff sponsorship is another way to help our staff. Currently, 20 of our 80 Ugandan/African staff are sponsored. If you are interested in sponsoring a New Hope Uganda staff member contact our sponsorship department.

3) Musana FM Radio
- Our Musana FM radio continues to have a significant impact in our immediate community and much beyond. Finances, however, are very difficult. Advertising on the radio is able to cover some of the running costs but not all of them. We continue to feel that the radio is not just an extra but an important part of the way God is calling us to reach out to our community to not just work with the children who are orphaned but with the community that is producing them (and often not caring for them as they could). If you are interested helping the radio continue to produce programming that is challenging the cultural views in our community, we would love you to partner with us.
One-time or ongoing gifts to Musana FM Radio are most welcomed.
4) Kobwin Children’s Center
- The first 21 full-time children moved into our Kobwin Center in March. Things are off to a great start but as with any ministry in it beginning stages many start-up costs remain. In addition to improving the water system, there are children to be sponsored, vehicles needed for both emergency transport and the hauling of construction materials, and school supply needs. Future needs include the construction of multi-purpose rooms for school and staff and the construction of a vocational school.

5) Musana Camps
- We are happy to report that our Musana Camps Matching Fund is nearing completion. Over 80% of the original $100,000 gift has been matched. The camp continues to host small retreats of 30-40 people. The new Meeting Hall is almost complete alon with the Water Project which will pump water from the Camp stream to a newly built cistern. The final step is paying off the last 8% of the land purchase for the breath-taking 700+ acres of land overlooking Lake Victoria.

6) Staff Housing
- As we continue to grow so does our need for staff housing. One pleasant issue currently is that many of our single staff are getting married! So the single houses they were living in no longer work:) We could use a new four-plex at Kasana Children’s Centre, a duplex or four-plex at Kobwin Children’s Centre and a duplex or four-plex at Musana Camps.
6) Other needs
- Of course, there are other projects as well.
