Needs

Needs/Financial Priorities in 2010

Gifts given to our general fund are always welcomed. When such a gift is given, we will use the funds in the area of greatest need at the time.

The following are the primary New Hope funding focus areas in 2010:

1) Post-primary funding:

- Additional funds are needed to sustain our New Hope Academy, Investment Year program, and further education (vocational, A-Level, and University). We are currently trying to add second sponsors for each student secondary age and above to meet the additional costs. If you are interested in sponsoring a secondary child, please contact our sponsorship department at: sponsors@newhopeuganda.org

One-time or ongoing donations to the Post-Primary Fund are also welcomed.

2) Water Security

- We are currently enjoying wonderful rains and all three of our centers are doing fine with water but during recent dry seasons water has become very scarce. We want to take full advantage of the resources available to us for long-term water sustainability. Funds given for NHU’s Water Security Project will be used to put gutters on all possible roof space, fix cisterns, add new cisterns and water tanks and drill additional bore holes.

3) Staff Salaries

- Our Ugandan Finance Committee and Board have challenged us to significantly increase the base salaries of our staff but not to do so until funds are available. We would very much like to do. Staff sponsorship is one way to help with this. Currently, 20 of our 80 Ugandan/African staff are sponsored. If you are interested in sponsoring a New Hope Uganda staff member contact our sponsorship department at sponsors@newhopeuganda.org

One-time or regular gifts to Staff Salaries are also most welcomed.

4) Kobwin Children’s Center

- The first 21 full-time children moved into our Kobwin Center in March. Things are off to a great start but as with any ministry in it beginning stages many start-up costs remain. In addition to improving the water system, there are children to be sponsored, vehicles needed for both emergency transport and the hauling of construction materials, and school supply needs. Future needs include the construction of multi-purpose rooms for school and staff and the construction of a vocational school.

5) Musana Camps

- As Musana Camps enters its second year, we are happy to report that the lengthy land transfer process is nearing completion. The camp has already started hosting small retreats of 30-40 people. The next step, before additional development is paying the final 26% of the land purchase for the breath-taking 700+ acres of land overlooking Lake Victoria.
