New Hope Uganda has four different types of child sponsorship opportunities:
1) Kasana Children’s Center Basic Child Sponsorship
2) Kasana Children’s Center Post-Primary Child Sponsorship
3) Kasana Children’s Center Baby House Sponsorship
4) Kobwin Children’s Center/Amuria Child Sponorship
Kasana Children’s Center Basic Child Sponsorship
Since 1986 Kasana Children’s Centre has become a family of over 600 children and 100+ staff who love, feed, clothe, disciple, educate and give them medical care. The goal is for each orphaned, fatherless or abandoned New Hope son or daughter to have a sponsor.
There are three primary goals for the Kasana Children’s Center Basic sponsor-child relationship:
1) To provide prayer support for each child.
2) To provide New Hope Uganda with the finances necessary to help care for the child.
3) To develop a meaningful and lasting relationship between each child and their sponsor. The children
have suffered much in their lives. Long-term relationships are very important to them now.
Expectations of the Sponsors
1) Spiritual commitment – Prayer for your child and the staff who care for him/her on a daily basis.
2) Relational commitment – Communication through letter writing. Your child will write you six times a year. We highly encourage you to write to your child six times a year as well.
3) Financial commitment – Sponsorship money is sent in regularly. US $30, UK £18, Canada $36.
Information about Kasana Basic Child Sponsorship
a) By becoming a NHU sponsor you are making a covenant before God to be partners with NHU in bringing the fatherhood of God to a fatherless child in Uganda.
b) New Hope staff have personal and regular contact with every child in the program.
c)100% of the funds received for sponsorship will actually go to Uganda. No administration costs are deducted in the USA ,the UK or Canada.
d) The sponsorship money will be used by NHU on behalf of the child. The children do not actually receive the money, but they do benefit directly from it. Christmas, birthday and other gifts go directly to the child.
e) The sponsorship money is used for the daily care of the child – the majority of the money is used to provide education for the child. As part of that education, the children receive meals, medical care, staff who love and care for the child, and training for the purpose of contributing to the child’s self sufficiency. A smaller portion of the sponsorship money goes to help for outside of school care.
Note: New Hope also gives the same education and care to a child who may not have a sponsor.
f) Kasana Children’s Center provides care for both Boarding and Day students (who we consider “sons” and “daughters”). Boarding sons and daughters are those with no living relative willing or able to raise them. (Many have a relative they visit during school holidays.) Day students (also considered sons and daughters) live with their mothers or other relatives within walking distance of Kasana. These relatives are able to give some minimal care and/or need the help of the children at home. The home situations are often very difficult and can be obstacles in the emotional and spiritual stability of the child.

Kasana Children’s Center Post-Primary Child Sponsorship
Once one of our “sons” or “daughters” graduates from primary school, costs go up significantly. Because most basic sponsors are in not in position to increase their giving beyond the current $30 a month at least one additional sponsor is needed for each child in order to cover costs during a student’s four years in the New Hope Academy.
When our children graduate from NHA, the cost of education gets even more difficult. The second-sponsors money is used to build into an education account that will help pay for part of the fast-rising costs of higher education (University or vocational school). This account will not come close to covering all of the costs and the student will bear significant individual responsibility for working for funds to help pay the cost as well.
If a child chooses not to attend such an institution, the funds will go into a general scholarship account to help alleviate the costs for other sons and daughters trying to attend an institution of higher learning.
There are two primary goals for the Kasana Children’s Center Post-Primary sponsor-child relationship:
1) To provide prayer support for each child.
2) To provide New Hope Uganda with the finances necessary to help care for the child.
US $30, UK £18, Canada $36.
Relational vs. Non-relational Sponsorship
The type of relationship is up to the sponsor. The sponsor can choose to have the basic sponsorship relationship, where letter writing occurs between the child and sponsor six times a year. Non-relational sponsorship is also an option. In this option, reports will be sent concerning your child’s progress but no letter writing will be involved. Either option is fine and is communicated by the sponsor to our sponsorship office at the beginning of the sponsor’s support.
Expectations of the Sponsors
1) Spiritual commitment – Prayer for your child and the staff who care for him/her on a daily basis.
2) Relational commitment – This depends on whether you decide on relational or non-relational sponsorship.
a) If relational sponsorship is chosen, then there is a commitment made to regular communication through letter writing. Your child will write you six times a year. We highly encourage you to write to your child six times a year as well.
b) If non-relational sponsorship is chosen, then you will receive regular updates on your child.
3) Financial commitment – Sponsorship money is sent in regularly.

Kasana Children’s Center Baby House Sponsorship
New Hope’s Baby House, called Hope House, began in 1999 and to this date has cared for 35 abandoned and otherwise needy babies. New Hope staff members often take one of the babies on a weekend to give the dedicated Hope House staff a respite and Hope House is also a popular spot for visiting team volunteers.
If a baby cannot be reunited with their biological families, they are either adopted or join one of our family groups sometime after their second birthday. Because of this, sponsorship is given to help the project in general rather than for individual babies. Sponsorship money helps provide much needed supplies such as food, clothing and diapers. Sponsors receive regular updates on the progress of the babies.
Expectations of the Sponsors
1) Spiritual commitment – Prayer for the babies in Hope House and the staff who care for them.
2) Financial commitment – Sponsorship money is sent in regularly.

Kobwin Children’s Center / Amuria Child Sponsorship
The vision to establish a center in the east of Uganda grew out of the desperate situation observed when New Hope Uganda staff and children went to Soroti as Mission Hope Soroti. New Hope ministered there to those suffering in the aftermath of the invasion of the area by Kony and his Lords Resistance Army, in 2003.
Kobwin Children’s Center/Amuria Child Sponsorship
The vision was for a center to rehabilitate children rescued from Kony’s army, sometimes called “returnees”, those orphaned by the war, and other internally displaced children affected by the atrocities in the region.
That vision has become a reality as New Hope Uganda is now ministering to children—now young people—in the community of Amuria. In March of 2010, 21 of these young people moved to our Kobwin Children’s Center to receive Biblical parenting, love, and educational remediation. 11 more young people were received for full-time care at Kobwin this January. In addition, 20 fatherless and orphaned children from the community of Kobwin are now being helped as day students at our elementary school or with school fees and scholastic materials as they attend a local secondary school.
There are two primary goals for the Kobwin Children’s Center/Amuria sponsor-child relationship:
1) To provide prayer support for each child.
2) To provide New Hope Uganda with the finances necessary to help care for the child.
US $30, UK £18, Canada $36.

New Hope provides also provides help in the form of tutoring and counseling for these young people in Amuria who continue to live in their community with relatives.
