Vision & Values

1.    Mission Statement

In bringing the fatherhood of God to the fatherless, Musana Camps seeks to Glorify God by creating environments in which people will encounter the truth of God’s Word and be transformed, compelled to live for Christ.

2.  Vision

“A Father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling.  God sets the lonely in families…” Psalm 68:5-6

The world sees the growing number of fatherless and orphaned children as an enormous problem and burden on Uganda.  New Hope Uganda believes they are an unprecedented opportunity.  New Hope Uganda’s mission is to work with this generation to “bring the Fatherhood of God to the fatherless” children of Uganda for generations to come.

New Hope Uganda’s desire to bring the fatherhood of God to the fatherless has led to the establishment of Musana Camps.  In Luganda, the largest local language in Uganda, musana means light coming directly from a specific source, as in light from the sun.  In 1 John 1:5-7 we see that God is light and that if we walk in the light, we live in truth.  In John 14:6 Jesus tells us that he is the truth and in John 8:31-32 Jesus tells us that if we hold to his teaching we will know the truth and the truth will set us free.  These verses have guided the development of Musana Camps and contain the heart and passion of why Musana Camps exists.  We hope that everyone who enters our gates will encounter the truth of The Light, Jesus Christ; will have their lives transformed; will be compelled to live for Christ; and will be set free to live as sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father.

Musana Camps work in coordination with New Hope’s current children’s centers, and are seeking to work with other organizations currently caring for fatherless children, as well as churches and schools in our area.  Our camps will provide opportunities for people to come to know Christ, grow in their relationship with Him, and develop as biblical men and women in servant leadership.

God is Light; in him there is no darkness at all.  If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth.  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, his Son , purifies us from all sin.  1Jn 1:5-7

“ I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

“If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples.  Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32

3.    Core Values & Desired Outcomes

The following core values and desired outcomes are foundational to the vision and mission of Musana Camps and are emphasized in our programs to strengthen the people that come to us.

The Glory of God – We are committed to bringing glory to God in all that we do.  He and His glory are the reason we exist and function. With those who come we want to proclaim the message of Gods glory:  His saving grace, the forgiveness of sin, and renewal of life that is by faith in Jesus Christ. We aim to create an atmosphere that draws each person’s attention to the beautiful creation that surrounds them and deepens their appreciation for both creation and ultimately the Creator who made everything.  We want to see people glorify God in all that they do in word and deed walking as good stewards of God’s creation

The Word of God – All truth comes from God and His Word, the Bible.  We want people to know truth and to see that His truth applies to all areas of our lives.  As we come to know God’s truth it transforms our worldview from that of the culture that we grew up with into a biblical worldview – that of Jesus Christ.  We are committed to honoring God by doing His work His way as understood from His Word.

Relationship – Our objective is to build relationships. Life is all about relationship; starting with relationship with Him and seen in our relationships with those He brings into our lives. Through relationship we want people to gain a vision for our roles as biblical men and women, which lays the foundations for marriage and family.  Through relationship we want people to experience restoration physically, mentally, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.  Rejuvenated people with an understanding of biblical marriage and family will glorify God and point others to Christ in their homes, communities, countries, and our world.

Integrity - We want to see people live in truth and transparency.  We are committed to walking humbly with our God which includes walking in integrity before Him and before our fellowman.

Generational Thinking - We want to reach the generations to come by envisioning children and adults of today with their opportunity to bring the fatherhood of God to the fatherless of this generation.

Self Sufficiency (stewardship) – We are committed to producing self-sufficient, productive citizens for the Kingdom of God and for the nation of Uganda who realize their dependence on God and are good stewards of the time, resources, and skills that He has given them.
