New Hope Millers
Vision: Bringing the Fatherhood of God to the fatherless and the Mind of Christ to the World of Milling.
Mission: Operate an income generating business which supports NEW HOPE UGANDA as a ministry and serves customers with Christian business interaction.
Overview: New Hope’s Maize Mill is playing in key role in both New Hope’s financial sustainability and as a resource to our local community.
Financial Sustainability The Maize Mill is now more than half-way into the first year of its five-year expansion business plan. Accomplishments over the past six months include electrification of the mill and a significant increase in production. The line of credit provided for expansion should be paid off by the end of the year; next year increased buying and storage will be completely funded by the profits of the mill itself; and by year three the mill should be contributing significantly to the ministry on a monthly basis.
A Resource to the Community New Hope Millers has become a blessing to those in the surrounding community giving people options for food sustainability and financial increase. In the past, our community suffered from a lack of where to mill their produce and often chose to sell off the harvest from their gardens and turn to the local shops to buy food for their families. Now we are seeing more people plant maize for personal consumption as well as for market. The former situation reduced the benefit of their gardens to a place of simple sustenance farming requiring much work for little profit. The maize mill has provided them with a reliable service of milling quality flour as well as a fair market price for those choosing to farm for market. Local people are bringing their harvests for sale to New Hope Millers to provide money for education, medical treatment as well as land acquisition and home building. We have heard continual positive feedback that people appreciate the quality and the integrity of the business. In addition New Hope has experienced a great saving in expenses when it comes to the processing of our own harvests.
