We have just heard from Stu, who is in the hospital with Shakira, her mum and one of our NHU nurses, Deborah, and we are so thankful to announce that Shakira’s heart surgery is now over, she has been off the heart by-pass now for a couple of hours and is in recovery in ICU, where she is likely to stay for the next few days.
Stu has spoken to the Surgeon and first impressions are that the heart surgery was a success, although of course it is still very early on after the operation. We praise God for working His healing through the team of surgeons who have been so lovely to all our NHU team and to Shakira and her family.
Thank you so much for all of you who have stood with us in prayer & in supporting us to raise the finances to make this surgery possible – please do continue to pray!!!! We still need to raise the final amount to cover the cost of this operation. If you would like to donate please click on the ‘DONATE’ button on the home page, and state clearly what the gift is for.
Of course the next few days, as Shakira recovers, are critical and we would ask that you would keep praying for her to gain in strength and remain free from infection. Please also pray for Mum and Deborah as they continue to care for her in the hospital.
As you can imagine, Shakira is covered in tubes and looks very fragile – Mum was very shaken when she first saw her – it was a real shock as you can imagine to see her little girl looking so very vulnerable!
One of our fellow NHU staff members reminded us this morning that Father God knew Shakira as He formed her in her mother’s womb! We continue to trust in Him and know that His plans and purposes for this family will be fulfilled!
