Leadership

One of the unique and wonderful things about New Hope Uganda is that the founders of the ministry have been a part of it during its entire history. Jay Dangers came to Uganda with his family from the United States with a vision for bringing the Fatherhood of God to the fatherless. Soon after arriving in Uganda in 1986, Jay asked Jonnes Bakimi to join him in the development of a children’s center.

Today, Uncle Jay still serves as the director of New Hope and Uncle Jonnes serves as the Ministry Coordinator. Jay’s wife, Vicki, and Jonnes’ wife Gertrude are pillars in the New Hope community as well. The Dangers and Bakimi families continue to lead New Hope today with the same Biblical core values that the ministry started with in 1988.
One of those core values is submission: submission to God, submission to the authority of Scripture, and submission to our Board. As directors, Jay and Jonnes lead by example. The New Hope Uganda Board of Directors are ultimately responsible for New Hope Uganda and have the final authority for all parts of the New Hope ministry.
At the Kasana Children’s Center, a seven-person management team oversees day to day operations. Individual directors oversee the work at the growing Kobwin Children’s Center, Musana Camps and Musana FM Radio.
In addition, New Hope Uganda works closely with its American New Hope Uganda Ministries Board, its Canadian Board, NHU Ministry for Children, and its North American Director Gary Wood. NHU also has an important partnership with Salt and Light ministries in the UK. Each of these groups serve as support arms for the Ugandan ministry, not as decision-making bodies for it.
